Patient-Expert Certificate Program

Be recognized for what you know

Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformation patients and families often become experts in cavernous malformation (CCM) out of necessity.  Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformation offers a structured way to facilitate learning about the illness to improve medical decision-making and peer support through our Patient-Expert Certificate Program.

Patient-Expert Course

In this course, you will work through 5 models that include video segments taken from our past webinars and conferences as well as material from our website.  There are frequently true-false quizzes along the way. The entire course should take approximately 5-6 hours to complete. You can save your work and come back to it as you have time.

Once you’ve completed the modules, you will receive an Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformation patient-expert certificate. You may use this as you like, including on resumes. You will have earned it!

Role of the Patient-Expert

Once you’ve earned patient-expert status, we hope you feel comfortable participating in our online communities. On Facebook, we will recognize you with an “Expert” badge in our groups.

If you’d like to offer additional time, talk to us about other opportunities, like answering emailed questions or co-facilitating groups.

Limits of the Patient-Expert

This is not a medical certificate or degree. While you can share general information with peers, you should not offer specific medical advice to an individual, aside from referring them to their providers or a CCM Center of Excellence.

We will ask you to indicate your understanding of this limit as part of your introduction to the course.
